Recent location requests

This section gives an overview of which apps have recently requested access to your location, and in each case, which type of locating method was used.

Individual apps may request high accuracy or low accuracy locations, depending on each app's own preferences with regard to accuracy vs the additional battery power required to receive a satellite positioning signal. Some apps will only request a low accuracy, low battery usage location even if you have enabled GPS location (ie, your mode is set to "High accuracy".

You can tap the name of any app in this list to find information about that app, though this usually doesn't tell you anything more about the app's use of location.

Battery usage: high

When shown next to an app, this indicates that satellite positioning was used to determine your location. This provided a high accuracy location, but potentially used a high amount of battery power.

Battery usage: low

When shown next to an app, this indicates that wi-fi access points or mobile network location were used to determine your location. This provided a lower accuracy location, but used negligible battery power.
